Foundation 51 Grants Awarded

May 6, 2010- Foundation 51 Funds Grants for MSAD 51 Cumberland/ North Yarmouth School District for the 2010 Spring Grant Cycle
At a time when teachers are looking for ways to fund enrichment programs and equipment needs, Foundation 51 sets a record for highest dollar amount awarded within a school year.

CUMBERLAND/NORTH YARMOUTH – Foundation 51 has announced the recipients of its Spring 2010 grants cycle.  A record number of grant applications were submitted and reviewed for consideration this cycle.   After careful review of the Grants Committee proposal, the board approved 19 grants totaling $31,494.00 to be awarded to grant applicants within the MSAD 51 school community. This amount marks a record for both the number of grants and the dollar amount awarded within a single grant cycle. The combined total of the Fall and Spring Grant Cycle awards, brings the total amount granted in the 2009-2010 school year to $44,145.00. The success of Foundation 51’s Annual Auction held in November, which raised just over $45,000.00, allowed the board to reach this new level of funding within a single year.

Foundation 51 is pleased to have granted the funds needed to purchase a membership for grades K-12 to Ruth’s Reusable Resources for the 2010- 2011 school year.  Ruth’s Reusable Resources (3R) is a non-profit organization that provides teachers a place to “shop” at no cost to them for much needed school supplies for the classroom.  This membership will allow teachers to save money and provide supplies and materials for all MSAD 51 students.
